The Only Way is Simone

img_5159img_5161img_5140Charlotte Simone. Need I say more? I discovered her amazing fluffiness three years ago, funnily on an episode of Made In Chelsea, as I frantically paused the television to daydream about Rosie Fortescue’s Popsicle. Every since then the terms; popsicle, sass, fuzz and the beloved Candy Cane have become prime in my vocabulary. So, I dreamt for a good two years about the sassiness I could encompass and I finally decided to give in to my furry cravings and purchase a Popsicle last Christmas. Every since, I’ve become a regular customer to Simone and cannot help myself giving into the furbulous (like that?) statement pieces. I’ve come to own a Popsicle, a few Sass Caps and more recently, the beautiful Muffin Top.

The pieces continuously make a plain outfit pop and make you feel like a giant fuzz ball in the best way possible. My Popsicle is the best example of this; it gives a sense of edge worn on the shoulder, yet can be used to keep you oh so cosy as a scarf in winter. I have even worn mine on a summer’s evening just because I cannot wait any longer for those wintery, faux fur months. My Sass Caps have had countless comments from people, while my new treasure is proving to be very sassy, the Muffin Top (excuse how cute the name is) is made from 100% Mongolian Lambswool, therefore has not only kept me warm while I freeze in my ripped jeans in the middle of winter, but also literally goes with anything and everything. The Muffin Top adds so much luxury to my outfits and I cannot wait to wear it all year round.

One of the things I love most about Charlotte Simone is the fact that the pieces are available in faux fur, of which I always purchase them in. Charlotte Simone is the perfect example of how high fashion production can be cruelty free, yet still dramatic and luxurious. This is the only way the fashion industry should be and real fur should not be glamorised. Not only this, the pieces are highly fashionable and add a little difference to your normal leather jacket, vinyl coat, or however you please to style them. But can we just talk about how cute the packaging is? A sweet frenzy, which also lines most of her products, which come with a complimentary Charlotte Simone candy. Or for those holiday months a candy cane, I mean because what’s better than some fuzz and candy?

Finding your own personal style is one of life’s little struggles. So, you find your own personality and it somehow portrays in your style choices. Seems easy right? Well, it took me about 3 years to finally be able to say that I know what my own personal style is, even if I had to make some faux pas to get here, the ride and wait was worth it. I would honestly say that my personal style changes regularly, but the basics remain the same, I feel like the pictures sum this view up. One day I wake up and feel the urge to be effortlessly chic, yet the next I like to throw in some leather and biker boots to bring some edge, I basically feel badass on these days. But, even if I feel that this is the case, something’s do not change. For example, I always feel overdressed for any occasion, from college, to brunch and to dinner, but this is me. I want to be overdressed, rather than under as this is literally just my style and me as a person, I suppose . So, I will always have a dramatic coat, even if my outfit may be dressed down. My jacket or coat is usually my centrepiece for my outfit, I sometimes pick my jacket before the outfit, which ultimately dictates the rest of the outfit. Another thing that I always find myself wearing is a clean cut white shirt. This is my element of chic and produces a polished finish, within all the faux fur and extravagance.  As Karl Lagerfeld once said “You cannot fake chic but you can be chic and faux fur.” My last point on my own personal style is my attention to detail and accessories. I always find that an outfit needs accessories, in this case I sometimes ignore the less is more motto, but it’s about what works for you, take Iris Apfel’s advice here if this is you, “More is more and less is a bore.” I find that I like my accessories to take the form of faux fur stoles, Charlotte Simone is perfect for this, a high quality bag and something a little different, for example my beloved Sass Cap, just to stand out from the crowd.

YOUR Personal Style:

·         At the end of the day, confidence is key. So if you don’t feel confident rocking that leather jacket or vinyl skirt, then find something that you do. This will help you find what you like and what style you are going for.

·         Finding your own personal style takes time and means making a few mistakes to get there, so just cringe at those old pictures of yourself from 2008 and move on.

·         Don’t just follow trends. Trends come and go, but true style lives forever. Make those trends and try to think outside the box. As I’ve said above some will work and some won’t, so just take your time.

·         This might sound quite strange but I find that music has a great influence on my style and depending on what I’m currently listening to, my style may change slightly, so be open to inspiration from all fields.

·         Take a trip to your nearest city, sit in a coffee shop and gain inspiration from others. I love people watching and even gaining one thing that you liked from one individual may help you go that little further into finding a solid, fashion foundation.

·         Most importantly, and as hard as it is, forget and don’t worry what other people think. Once you have conquered this fear, you will truly find your own style.

I have chosen the images that best sum up my personal style from some everyday looks I have created throughout the year.

Me, Myself and I

img_4963

After months and months of saying “Yes, I am going to start blogging” and after me constantly putting it off, the year is finally coming to an end and I’ve found myself not completing my main task of 2016. So after people telling me I have a talent for fashion and people randomly asking me on the street “Where’s your jacket from?” or even weirdly and more frequently “AH! Can I stroke your jacket?!” this will make a lot more sense as I continue to post and you get to learn more about my personal style. Which basically can be summed up in three words; fluffy, sassy and chic. I am Isla Robertson and as cliché as it sounds fashion is really my passion.  Nothing gets me more excited than when someone asks me if I want to go shopping. (You will basically find me at the till of any fashion store as I literally fund my ‘hobby’.)  My Snapchat, at annoyance of my friends and family, has basically become my blog as I now seek to further my fashion love on here and give my friends a bit of a break! I also think that it’s particularly key for me to state that my blog will feature both high street and designer brands as I find that the fashion pedestal is a mixture of both segments. Fashion can still be affordable and luxurious, even if I do find myself broke 24/7 as a result of the growing pile of faux fur coats, that as of present are about to break my once scarce wardrobe, or that Karl Lagerfeld sweatshirt that is obviously a very practical purchase. To end my first post, which is rather a daring move for anyone to put something out in the world for anyone to read,  I would like you to note that as my blog grows you will find; lots of faux fur, leather, frequent posts about my latest go-to brunch places and a lot of timeless style.

Here I am guys, looking completely natural next to a stone wall, in one of my favourite faux furs.
